Spam List Can Kill Your List Building Efforts

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

In this article I am going to share a mistake that I see more Internet Marketers making everyday. This mistake is costing them hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I’m not sure if they are making the mistake because of a lack of knowledge or if they are just trying to save a few bucks.

Not only am I going to explain to you what the mistake is, I am also going to show you how to avoid falling into the same pitfall yourself. Since I am in such a great mood who knows I may throw a few other tips in there to help you out too.

If you have been online for any length-of-time knows the value of building a highly targeted responsive list. This is by far the most important task that an internet marketer could and should be doing. Seventy to seventy-five percent of your effort should be focusing on this task when your first starting out.

Without fail my heart is filled with joy every time I stumble across a website and I see that the marketer is building a list. That is an indication that he or she is on the right path. In my efforts of constant and never ending improvement I make it a habit to opt-in to every list I come across, I like to study the various techniques. I highly recommend that you setup a new account and do the same.

Anyway moving on… I was shocked to find out that the majority of my fellow Internet Marketers where using some sort of free script or blog plugin to manage their list. Although they may have good intentions the problem is they are going about it the wrong way. If you are running a script or plugin from your own sever then chances are the majority of your messages aren’t going through due to spam list filters.

Nine chances out of ten you are hosting your website on a shared server. That means that there are dozens if not more sites sharing the same I.P. address. When you send out emails through services such as gmail, yahoo, etc… that have teams of individuals who’s job it is to create what is called a spam list. Although you may not consider yourself a spammer the spam detection team at those other services may feel differently.

Here’s something that I want you to think about… You would never attempt to preform brain surgery on a close loved one yourself just to save a few bucks am I right? So why would you try to manage your list which is one of the most valuable aspects of your business yourself. My advice to you is to do stick to your day to day routine of managing your online business and allow the email professionals to manage your list.

I really hope that you see the value in this article, and you follow my advice by allowing the professionals to do their job. If you take that sound advice I promise you that you will notice an immediate increase in your opt-in conversion ratio. For those of you who are not currently building a list all I can say is shame on you! Stop whatever your doing and start building your list today.

Twitter Advertising Made Me $970 And It Only Took 2 Hours!

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I had stopped by Side Street Cantina for a little lunch a few days ago. While waiting for my meal I decided to whip out the old iPhone and check my PayPal. I almost fail out of my chair when I saw a payment for $970 waiting for me to accept it. I didn’t have a clue who had sent it to me. After spending a few minutes researching the matter I discovered it was an affiliate payment (can you say cha-ching?)

After reading all of those so-called ebooks and reports on making money using twitter it was a simple system of sending three tweets a day that worked. To set up everything from beginning to end took about two hours. The even better part was it cost me less than twenty dollars to make $970. I don’t know about you but that’s a pretty good damn return on investment in my book. I’m so excited about this simple process and I’m about to give you the exact steps that I used to make that little twitter bird pay me.

I like most of the people on twitter use to make the same mistakes. In the beginning I had failed to track my results, which did nothing but waist a bunch of time. The second biggest mistake that I was making was I was forcing my sales pitch down peoples throats which did nothing but upset a lot of people.

If your going to do it you might as well do it right. I will explain step-by-step what it is I did and why I did it. Make sure you open up a word processor or get a pen and paper or something to take notes with. I’m about to give you the keys to the kingdom, the blueprint to the riches if you will.

The first step is to find an appropriate affiliate to do business with. I mainly use clickbank and paydotcom. I have always had positive experiences with both and I highly recommend them. When looking for an affiliate the most important thing to me is a high end ticket. It is going to take the same amount of effort to promote a ten dollar product as it would a thousand dollar product. The second criteria that a product must meet is they must offer at least a fifty percent commission from each sale. There are exceptions to the rule and I do promote lower end products from time to time.

Once I have found an affiliate that meets my conditions it’s time for me to get a domain name. I use godaddy, but there are a ton of places where you can purchase a domain from. Just do a search in your favorite search engine. Next you will need web hosting if you don’t already have a hosting provider I highly recommend host gator. The next step is to create a little mini-course to giveaway. This is how you get the people in the door and build your list. If you have been trying to make money online for any length of time you have heard the saying the money is in the list. Who would have guessed… They were right. The money is in the list. I hope you didn’t panic when I mentioned creating a giveaway. This probably one of the more easier steps to do because most of the work has already been done for you. If you followed all of the steps and found a product, you can just turn on the old web cam and talk about some of the benefits that the affiliate has on their sales page. Break the copy of the sales page into four or five parts or more if you wish and each benefit can be a little video. The last video will be your close where you ask them to purchase. If you do not have a web cam use PowerPoint (Windows) or Keynote (Mac) and create a little presentation for each benefit. If you don’t have one of those programs they offer a 30 day free trial you can use that. Once you have created your giveaway it’s time to make your opt-in page, which is often referred to as a squeeze page. Create a few follow up emails to send out to the end user and your done. Now it’s time to start promoting your squeeze page offer using your twitter advertising. I sent out three messages a day, one in the morning, the other mid day, and the last one early evening.

I don’t want anyone reading this article to be mislead by thinking that I just jumped on twitter on Monday and started making money on Tuesday. It took me months to figure out how all the pieces worked. I made all the mistakes that most people made including getting a few accounts banned in the process. If you follow the information that I have outlined you will indeed make money. PERIOD!

Have more questions about how you can use twitter advertising to make money online? Love the article? Hate The article? Whatever it is on your mind I want to hear about it. Hit me up! I want to hear it all.
