Affiliate Marketing Steps – The Good The Bad And The Ugly

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

So, you’ve decided to venture off into the world of affiliate marketing. While the rest of the world is slaving away at some job, you’ve decided to break free and run. Are you ready to learn the steps needed in order to begin your career as an affiliate marketer?

Well, that’s good but then in order for you to make it as a success in the affiliate world, you have to follow some steps and learn them well. Get ready to know both the good and bad out there.

If you think this is going to be an easy get rich money making venture, you are mistaken. Don’t let the glitz and glam of those who show you this care free life style filled with mansions, and yachts fool you. These people worked for what they have and put in considerable amounts of time and effort to acquire these things.

One of the most definite means of succeeding in the affiliate business is by simply doing what those that have succeeded in the business did. If you can do this, you can even start to see profit immediately or almost immediately.

It is very important that you do not allow the sheer volume of things that you need to know overwhelm you. Allow yourself time to get the hang of the various issues that comprise the business. The truth is that sometimes, you will be tempted to just take a break from the hustle of the business, but I always advice that such a break should not be too long.

Don’t get overwhelmed by trying to do everything at once. You will get confused at times, but pace yourself and in a few months you’ll be surprised at what you know if you don’t give up. There may be instances where you feel the need to take a break from it. This is understandable; I have done it several times. However, don’t take the break too long otherwise you will lose money making potential.

Here are some steps that will help tremendously.

STEP ONE: Get a Blog. This blog will be the place where you post all of your information before ever submitting it elsewhere. This is also a place where you will want to send your personal contact list to. If you already have a blog I recommend you get a different one for the purpose of your business.

STEP TWO: Become an affiliate. Create an account and sign up as an affiliate at places such as ClickBank, Affiliatebot, or Amazon. Just go to their website and follow the instructions. Many individual companies will allow you to become an affiliate. All you have to do is go to their website and checkout the top, bottom or side of their home page and look for the word Affiliate. Also, use Google search and type in “affiliate programs” and use that to choose a product to promote.

To explore these options and others, just do a search for the term ‘affiliate programs’ on Google.

Free marketing means you put in some extra effort to promote your product through avenues such as article publishing, press releases, videos, blogs and more. Even within this avenue there are paid services that will help distribute your information further and more effectively.

Special Advice: You can always promote your own products through free advertising. Document your journey because in about a year will be able to assemble your own information product based on your own learning experience. Don’t think you can’t contribute anything because you can. You may have the next big thing and if nothing else you may have a product that speaks to a particular audience. Many say find your niche.

That is how professional areas look. For example, look at mobile phones and then Nokia phones and then 3G Nokia phones. The narrower, the more manageable it is. That is a niche.

- Finding your own niche is one of the most important aspects of affiliate marketing and internet marketing as a whole. A niche is simply a narrow market space that suits your expertise very well. It is very specific.

- When you sign up as an affiliate, you are usually given a product code. Using this product code, you can purchase a domain name from a site like godaddy.com for a cheap price. The process is really simple and not as complicated as it sounds or seems. It however requires time to digest and to get used to as I mentioned earlier.

Learn everything you can. Free information is always best but the only thing about free information is that it usually requires a lot of your time to gather. If time is a commodity you don’t have a lot of, then you will want to purchase knowledge from people who’ve done the tedious work. It makes it a heck of a lot easier for you.

It would cost you money but then, it will save time and get you what you want. Some of the things you have to be vigilant about are the many schemes and programs lying in wait for unsuspecting and eager neophytes in the affiliate marketing business.

Final Note: Don’t go off into a buying frenzy. Start off with what I recommended and slowly add from there. The most expensive lesson I learned was buying things too soon or buying things I didn’t understand before I purchased it. You can be successful at this. You won’t learn everything in a day, but the time that this takes will be well worth your effort.

Affiliate Advertising Tactics That Anyone Can Use

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Want to start an Internet marketing business but don’t want to risk any money? It’s quite possible to accomplish if you are willing to do a little work. Read on to discover how you can use free affiliate advertising methods to get started without spending any cash.

Go to Blogger or a similar site and start a blog. Start writing on topics related to whatever affiliate product you are attempting to sell. For this to work, you are going to need to write at least one post per day for about a month. Set up a different blog for each kind of product you are promoting.

After the first paragraph of each of your blog posts you will be placing affiliate advertising, such as links or banners. You also want to put these ads in the sidebar of your site. Don’t call the attention of your readers to these ads, simply put them in the most visible spots of your blog.

A lot of newcomers to Internet marketing make the mistake of being too pushy with what they are selling. However, this approach hardly ever works. When using a blog to market products, it is best to simply place an offer in front of your readers and not try to pressure them in any way.

Now you want to get some people to visit your site. Since you don’t want to spend any money just yet, the best way to get traffic is with article marketing. You do this by writing related articles and submitting them to as many of the major directories as you can.

There is a spot at the end of your articles where you can put a link pointing toward your site. This is where your traffic will come from. Two articles a day should be enough to get you a decent amount of visitors. You can rewrite your blog posts and easily produce as many articles as you need.

If you get stuck for ideas, visit the article directories and see what others are writing about. While you most certainly don’t want to copy the work of others, there is nothing wrong with reading their work to learn more about your niche. Just make absolutely sure that your article is 100 percent original, or you can get yourself into trouble.

As you can see, it doesn’t require any cash to use affiliate advertising to market your products. However, as you begin to acquire a steady income, it will benefit you greatly if you move on to using paid advertising methods. This will help you make even more money as you gain experience.

Boost Your Affiliate Commissions With These Simple Tips

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Is it possible to increase your affiliate commissions without causing yourself extra work? Yes, it is, but it does require some imagination and a willingness to try different things. Simple tweaks to what you are already doing can have a dramatic effect on your return on investment.

One thing you can do right off is make sure that the affiliate programs you are using are offering the highest commission percentages. The discrepancies between different companies may surprise you. For example, one program may offer five or six percent for every sale you make while another program might give you fifteen percent, even if the items you are selling are identical.

Try to promote just one or two products on each of your websites. If you clutter your site with too many competing advertisements, your visitors will get confused. Focus your reader’s attention on a single item and they will be more inclined to purchase what you offer.

You can get more affiliate commissions for the same amount of work when you focus on selling memberships to monthly subscription services. Instead of just getting paid one time for a sale, these can pay you every month, and that can really add up over time.

Get people to join your email list by giving away free ebooks. Having lots of subscribers means you can sell to them over and over without working harder or spending more on advertising. It’s also a good idea to put affiliate links in these free reports. Encourage your subscribers to give them away to their friends, and you have instantly created more potential customers.

Experiment with the appearance of your sales pages to try and increase your affiliate commissions. Try placing ads in different locations to determine what converts best. Simply moving an ad may make you an extra sale or two a month, so it’s worth trying.

Use tracking codes to find out where your visitors are coming from. This is especially helpful if you use many different methods of advertising. Once you know where the buyers are coming from, rather than just the browsers, you can focus more of your attention on the promotions that convert. This will save you both money and work.

Once you understand how to become more efficient, you will improve your affiliate commissions without working harder or spending more money. It’s all a matter of identifying what helps you and tossing out what does not. Evaluate everything that you do to ensure that all of your promotional efforts are as productive as possible.
