The Info For E Bay Sellers-experience Of First Ten Years

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Yes, you read that accurately- ten years. E bay was created in September 1995, by a man known as Pierre Omidyar, who was dwelling in San Jose. He wanted his site – then known as ‘Auction Web’ – to be a web based marketplace, and wrote the first code for it in one weekend. It was one of the first websites of its variety within the world. The name ‘eBay’ comes from the domain Omidyar used for his site. His firm’s domain was Echo Bay, and the ‘eBay Auction Web’ was initially just one part of Echo Bay’s web site at e bay.com. The first thing ever bought on the location was Omidyar’s damaged laser pointer, which he received $14 for.

The site quickly became massively popular, as sellers came to list all sorts of odd things and buyers actually bought them. Relying on trust seemed to work remarkably well, and meant that the site could almost be left alone to run itself. The site had been designed from the start to collect a small fee on each sale, and it was this money that Omidyar used to pay for Auction Web’s expansion. The fees quickly added up to more than his current salary, and so he decided to quit his job and work on the site full-time. It was at this point, in 1996, that he added the feedback facilities, to let buyers and sellers rate each other and make buying and selling safer.

In 1997, Omidyar changed Auction Web’s – and his company’s – title to ‘e bay’, which is what folks had been calling the location for a long time. He began to spend a lot of money on advertising, and had the eBay logo designed. It was in this year that the one-millionth product was bought (it was a toy model of Huge bird from Sesame Road).

Then, in 1998 – the height of the dot com business – eBay turned massive enterprise, and the investment in Web companies on the time allowed it to bring in senior managers and business strategists, who took in public on the stock market. It began to encourage folks to sell other than just collectibles, and rapidly turned an enormous site the place you could possibly sell anything, large or small. Unlike different websites, though, eBay survived the top of the business, and is still going robust today.

1999 saw e bay go worldwide, launching sites within the UK, Australia and Germany. E bay purchased half.com, an Amazon-like online retailer, in the 12 months 2000 – the same year it launched buy it Now – and purchased PayPal, a web-based payment service, in 2002.

Pierre Omidyar has now earned an estimated $3 billion from eBay, and still serves as Chairman of the Board. Oddly enough, he keeps a personal weblog pierre.typepad.com. There are now literally millions of items bought and sold every day on eBay, all over the world. For every $100 spent online worldwide, it is estimated that $14 is spent on eBay – that’s a lot of laser pointers.

Now that you know the history of eBay, maybe you’d prefer to know the way it may work for you? The resources given below provides you with an thought of the possibilities.

How To Lose When Trying To Make Money On EBay

Monday, May 31st, 2010

According to eBay, there are thousands of sellers who rely on the auction giant to make a full-time living. However, at the same time there are thousands who tried to make money on eBay, but ended up at the top of a very large pile of failed sellers.

Look with an analytical mind and you’ll quickly discover several patterns: one common set for those who have failed and another set for those who are succeeding. If you’re working on a doctoral thesis in psychology, you could probably get a book published on it. But for our purposes, we’ll just keep it simple.

John Paul Dejoria, cofounder of John Paul Systems, is fond of saying, “Successful people do the things that unsuccessful people won’t.” And, well, that pretty much sums it up, doesn’t it?

Take a look at any MLM (multi-level marketing) program and you’re sure to find a bevy of veteran MLM’ers who have tried virtually every program on the books, but never succeeded at a one of them. Many of them bounce from one company to the next because they are somehow convinced that if they can just “find the right opportunity,” their business will take off. But it has little to do with the opportunity and more to do with doing — or in this case, a lack of doing.

I once consulted for a new entrepreneur who was working with a well-known eBay drop shipper. This person was having difficulty finding products he could sell. So I took a look at the drop shipper he was using, researched several products, and found a few that were selling well on eBay.

After offering up one of the products as an example, he couldn’t tell me fast enough that there was no way he could sell that. And that’s pretty much where my involvement ended. It came down to the old business saying about success. It wasn’t that he couldn’t, but that he wouldn’t.

I once worked with a successful young entrepreneur who was fond of saying, “The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.” Want easy money? Join my down line, guaranteed to make me money. You? Oh, well, at least it was easy, right?

eBay has acted as the catalyst for many a hard-working entrepreneur. Want that same success? Then commit to doing the work that is required for success.

Online And In Business At Home With A Solid Company

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

Are you a network marketer who has tried everything? Do you laugh about some of the products you tried to push in the days before the internet? Well that’s me. I really don’t have anything negative to say about these companies. Most of them have excellent programs with one of kind products. Unfortunately, it isn’t the program or the products that cause so many people to jump from one program to the other. Lets face it if all your enrollees stayed the course and worked the business as hard as you did, no one would leave. But that isn’t fair either. Some of your hardest workers will still drop out eventually simply because they can not afford it.

We already know that with network marketing, you must find at least a few individuals who are willing to stay the course and build the business. This is a major show stopper for us all. Fact is, you probably already know where I am going with this. Even though your downline members want the same success as you, they simply either don’t possess the same skill set or maybe an even worse fate. Worse is when it becomes too expensive and they simply cannot hang on long enough to generate an income to replace what they have invested. So, they are gone before you know it.

After my last go at MLM, I said never ever again. Ironically, As I craft this page, I still have hordes of bottles of product setting under my cabinet. I contemplated that I would just drink it all myself, enjoy every sip and figure I got it at a discount. If your laughing at that statement, you can probably relate.

Now, savings and discounts is what inspired this article. A very good company and program changed my thinking about MLM. There are three apparent reasons why I got involved in the this great venture. First, it is very cheap to get started. Cheap in a good way. It will only cost $70.00 your first month and $20.00 a month after that to infinity and beyond. Now think about this. If it is only $20.00 a month and you can afford that, shouldn’t your downline members too. This is a program that anyone can afford to stay in financially.

Saving is my game and bleeding cash hurts. In many programs a substantial product purchase must be made every month to play the game and be eligible for commissions. If your spending a couple to three hundred a month and not putting anything back it can bleed you dry fast. This program is different. You don’t buy juice or other consumables. Instead, for $20.00 a month you get access to an endless supply of discounts at 175,000 stores around the world and in the community where you live. So, don’t worry about stocking up your cabinet with products you couldn’t drink in a lifetime. In this business to take advantage of the product, fire up your computer and print off your coupons or discounts. I know that is great, but the best and last thing about this program is the compensation plan.

If your an MLM “want to be” or experienced network marketer, take a few minutes to learn about this program. The membership allows me to pocket a little savings every time I go to the grocery store. I found a 50% off oil change coupon several days ago. $29.99 suddenly gets chopped to $14.99. If you do this once or twice a month at all the places you normally shop, your $20.00 a month contribution is making you money without enrolling the first person.

Now is the time to start saving more and putting more cash in your pocket. You can do it all with this program. Take advantage of the discounts and the business opportunity that is attached. It makes more dollars and sense to me than any program I have ever been involved with. It is only $20.00 a month after your initial enrollment.

About this program: Showing affordable online business solution for you. Also consider saving on everything you buy using this free application while you shop online

Finding Your eBay Niche

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

If you’ve sold on eBay for a little while, pretty soon the question will come up, “What do I sell?” You need to think about what product category you want to sell in. Since there are thousands of categories, you have many options to choose from.

Back just a few short years ago, I was getting started. I didn’t know what I wanted to sell. How did I decide? Well, let me tell you a bit about me. I’m a gadget geek. I know what electronics are going to come out before they do. I watch the gadget blogs. I keep tabs on what Apple is doing, and know when they are going to upgrade their iPhones. It’s a hobby of mine.

It wasn’t hard to go from my gadget hobby to selling gadgets on eBay. I sold my PlayStation 2. I sold a Gameboy and some computer games. It was easy because I knew electronics was my forte. After I ran out of things to sell around the house, I found an electronics wholesaler. They had webcams and computer accessories, and we still sell those to this day.

How does this story help you? Ask yourself… what do you like? Selling what you like will make your research and product buying a whole lot easier. Remember that whatever product category you choose to sell in, you’ll be spending a lot of time working and figuring out what to sell. If you sell the types of products that you’re already interested in, then the “work” of talking to suppliers and researching will be easier. (An added bonus is that if you sell what you like, you can always have one for yourself.))

Let’s say you’re just getting started on eBay and you have an idea. Let’s say that it doesn’t work out the way you hoped. The great thing about eBay is that nothing is set in stone. If you have an idea (or no idea at all) that’s ok. The main thing is to get started. You can always change direction later, but you have to start moving first. Choose an eBay category that you think you can sell in.

Think about an airplane taking off from an airport. Does it always take off in the exact direction that it will end up? No. Most planes take off not pointed in the direction they eventually want to go, but when they are in the air, the pilot can make course adjustments. This applies to your business as well. Don’t worry if you take off in a different direction than you want to go. The main point when you’re a beginner is to get off the ground, and you do this by selling whatever you can at first. Once you’re in the air, then you can change the direction you’re going.

To reiterate: the most important thing you can do when you get started is to build momentum. Don’t travel in 15 directions at once. Just start by selling items around your house. Then, once you’ve run out of household items to sell, pick an eBay niche. Don’t stress about it, just try something based on your hobbies.
