Manchester United to face Liverpool in F.A Cup third round.
Friday, December 17th, 2010The Manchester United shirt and Liverpool shirt have clashed multiple times throughout the years in the biggest occasions, and involved many memorable moments, Cantona’s volley at Wembley to name one of the few.
Liverpool are having a tough time of it of late, not expected really to win anything this season, they will surely gain confidence if they can manage knocking out strong favourites for the competition. What more would a Liverpool fan want this season than to knock the Manchester United Football shirt out of the F.A cup and then go onto win it.
Liverpool knocked the Manchester United shirt out of the competition 4 years ago due to a singular Peter Crouch goal, but it is Manchester United who have had the majority of victories with seven of the last eight going to the men from Manchester.
Earlier in the season a stunning Berbatov hat trick was enough to secure victory for Alex Ferguson beating Liverpool 3-2. Liverpool do not taking losing to United lightly and the club with Torres returning to a good run of form, hope to start gelling with new signings Hodgson has bought in. The tie was met with mixed feeling for Hodgson who is under a bit of pressure at the big club.
Liverpool are still in Europe, but not setting the league alight at the moment having some bad results and some unfortunate losses like last weekend at White Hart Lane where they conceded a late Aaron Lennon goal to throw away a well earned point. Manchester United form has been consistent, although they got knocked out the League cup mid week, Manchester United are in the hunt for every other cup they are in and will not be taking the tie lightly.
“It’ll be a cracking game of football. No doubt we’ll find ourselves on TV again. We seem to be on TV every week.”
The Manchester United and Liverpool football shirts have faced each other famously in the F.A cup in fact 9 times since the war, Man United have been victorious seven of the previous eight, but the last time the teams met in the competition it was Liverpool who were victorious knocking them out in the fifth round in 2006.
Other highlights of the round see Leeds who knocked the Manchester United shirt out of the cup last year hoping to do the same to the red of Arsenal. Roy Keane faces a difficult challenge with Ipswich playing Chelsea and Man City drawing Leicester City.
